“I worked as a pool attendant at Club Med but when the hotel closed, I became unemployed. So, I began making these utensils. I first made them for Jounen Kweyol but I soon learned that non-stick pans call for wooden spoons. My products are made from bayleaf spice wood. This wood is very strong and heavy. This set goes for $150 and I sell to both locals and tourists. I believe that my products are good because customers come back for more. People call me Spoonman but my name is Rufus. I’ve been making these for over 15 years.”
